Hi, I'm Tim...

I have a broad and varied background in leadership and management that I bring with me to every client and every project I'm involved with.

Military Career

I first started my leadership journey in the military. At 22, I passed selection to become a RAF Officer and within 5 years I was leading a team of 150 people in response to the COVID pandemic, for which I was recognised in the New Years' Honours List. The military gave me some incredible training and experiences in leadership that are not normally available at such a young age in most careers.

Fast forward to 2021 and as I set my sights on leaving full-time service, I start to notice a trend...leadership and management in the civilian world is nurtured and developed very differently (or sometimes not at all). I wanted to keep working in this space, and qualified as a Change Management practitioner before setting up as a self-employed Change Manager.

Change Manager

My time as a Change Manager was what first brought me into the charity sector. I worked with several charities and saw first hand how external consultants could really enhance what charities were doing. It's not necessarily about coming in and taking over, it's about bringing best practice and being that guide and facilitator when needed. I helped charities go through some really seismic changes that positioned them so much stronger as a result, and I keep that knowledge and experience with me to this day.

Charity CEO

Like many charity CEOs, I didn't originally set out to become one. However, when I was invited to apply for a role with a cause that really resonated with me, it felt like the stars had aligned. After a competitive application process, I was chosen to become CEO of Greyhound Rescue Wales, a charity that is still close to my heart to this day.

Nothing teaches you more about the charity sector than being CEO of a small charity. You interact with every facet of the charity world on a daily basis and very often, you are that person that keeps the many plates spinning. It's hard to describe to people who are unfamiliar just how all-encompassing that role can become, and how it can take over your life!

After an incredibly busy 4 years working with Greyhound Rescue Wales, I knew the timing was right to start the search for the charity's next CEO and with that, I also knew what I wanted to do next...I wanted to use my knowledge and experiences to work with as many charities as possible to help them to grow, develop and achieve the best possible results for their beneficiaries.

Consultant

Becoming a charity consultant has been the most satisfying and rewarding use of my broad experience and skills to date. I love how my work brings me into contact with a whole range of different charities and causes throughout the year. I am a strong believer in lifelong learning and every client or project I work for is another valuable experience that informs the next.

As a naturally curious and inquisitive person, I thrive in a consultancy environment. I'm always passionate about working with new charities, finding out everything there is to know about them, and then adding informed and tailored expertise to bring everything together and find the best solution...whether that be through guidance and support, training, or interim cover.
